/ˌidēəˈsiNGkrəsē/—noun—a mode of behavior or way of thought peculiar to an individual.

ah, idiosyncrasies. the great determinants of personality and social status in our wonderful, socially hierarchical society.

just kidding. kind of. well, to be honest, i’m completely right. the peculiarities of an individual’s personality are, in my opinion, some of their most important characteristics because they distinguish them from others. and yes, some idiosyncrasies are major turn-offs, but you can’t win everything.

an idiosyncrasy of mine, you ask? well, I read 4 books from a notoriously “guilty-pleasure” series this weekend. and frankly, I didn’t do much else other than my calendar commitments. homework? very little of it. functioning like a regular human being? likewise.

i hate peanut butter, i hate bell peppers, my pet peeve is incorrectly spelled words, i have such good attention to detail and awareness that I know far too much about most people, i unironically read romance novels, i love stupidly intellectual movies like Good Will Hunting, Kill Your Darlings, A Beautiful Mind, Dead Poets Society, The Man Who Knew Infinity, etc, etc, etc.

in all honesty, i’m not even sure if these are considered idiosyncrasies. am i chock-full of peculiarities, or am i accidentally basic? both are possibilities, but frankly i just really don’t care.

i love my quirks, i love my friends’ quirks, and my favorite things about others are their quirks and idiosyncrasies.

and now, i’m finishing this post 2 weeks later and I have no clue where I was going to go with this. but, I guess that goes to say that when I’m stressed, I get weirdly optimistic. I like that about myself! it’s an idiosyncrasy of mine ;).
